Welcome to Logging Your Food!
Start by opening up your Vida Health app, and navigate your attention to the Today tab located at the bottom of the screen. Look for the action named Log Food.

Set up your Nutrition Goals
Our Food Log takes the information you enter in the tracker and calculates the nutritional content of those items. Creating a goal in the Food Logger is a great way to keep track of information like Calories, sugar, or carbs so you can make sure you are always in line with your personal food goals.
To Begin, press Start in the Food Logger.
From this page, you can choose the information you would like to track and set it up as a weekly goal. Please see the following article for more help on Setting Goals.
Setting up a Pathway
Now, when you open the food logger you should see a section to set up your eating pathway. If you want more information on the different Nutrition Pathways, please Click Here.
Logging a Meal
To begin logging a meal, simply press the + sign next to the meal that you would like to log.
You can add a photo, enter a description of your meal to help give your coach a better idea of what you ate during that day. Start by selecting the + icon to search for your food item, on the meal period you wish to log.
Entering a Meal Description
With the new food search feature, simply type in the meal items you wish to enter. A list of prepopulated food items will appear, based on the description provided. You can search through a general list, or look for branded food items.
After you've selected your food items, you will then be asked to adjust the portion size. Feel free to tap into the number or the serving size located to the right of this in order to make any edits. You can then see the food item's Nutrition facts display below.
Once you are done entering your meal, simply press Log at the bottom of the screen and that information will be adding to your food log for the day.
Adding a Photo to your Meal
Click on which meal you want your photo to be in, so for example, if you want to post a picture for breakfast then click on the + icon next to breakfast.
Then click on the Quick Add button.
This will open up the Quick Add menu. To add a photo, click on the Add photo icon. You can also add a meal description by clicking into the Meal Description box!
You can choose the Camera or Library in order to take or choose a picture from your device. Every photo can be replaced or retaken. After snapping the most picturesque photo of your meal you can, select to Use Photo.
A confirmation page will appear, letting you see your final meal masterpiece. Please select Log located at the bottom of the screen, and this photo will then appear in your meal log for that day.
View your Nutritional Information
Our Food log uses a natural language to interpret and store your food items. All you have to do is write down exactly what you ate in your meal, and the app will do its best to calculate the nutritional information for that meal.
You can add specific measurements such as 1 TBSP or 3 OZ (ounces) and the meal entry will accurately calculate the nutrition information for that quantity of food. Just click on the serving to change the amount, or the serving size itself.
If you do not know the amount or do not enter in that level of detail, you can simply leave it out and the app will assume the portion based on the most frequently used serving sizes for that food item.
You can also type in your full meal without having to list each item individually. Our smart feature will detect the items you have eaten in bulk.
You can also use Vida Health's new Barcode Scanner to log your meal items. Our smart feature will detect the items you have eaten simply by scanning the food item's barcode.
Simply tap the Barcode Scanner icon located on top of the meal entry view.
Then, hold your camera over the barcode of the meal item you are attempting to log. Once the barcode scanner has located the meal details, you will be directed to the next page. You can edit the portion sizes on this page as well. Once you're satisfied, please select Log located at the bottom of the page. Editing a Meal
In order to edit a meal photo, click on the photo that is currently logged in order to replace the photo.
You will be taken back to the meal log screen where you will be able to edit the photo or description for that meal. You can click into the serving size as well in order to make edits to the serving size, or the amount you entered.
In order to edit the meal description, you will need to delete the original entry.
Removing a Meal
To remove a meal, simply press the > icon next to the meal you logged and then choose Delete located at the top right-hand corner.
Vida Health uses a database called Nutritionix to power our food logging platform. Nutritionix is the largest verified food and grocery database in the world.
