If cellular connectivity is not reliable in your area, you can connect your device to your Wifi or Bluetooth via the Connect Assistant App. This is a free mobile application (available on iOS and Android) that helps you set up a Withings cellular device with WiFi or Bluetooth connectivity.
Note: This method should really only be used as a backup connection for people who reside in areas where cellular coverage isn't strong enough or reliable.
Instructions
Download and install the app on your mobile device
Things to consider when using the app:
- If connecting via bluetooth, enable bluetooth on your phone before using the app
- If connecting via Wifi, make sure your smartphone is connected to 2.4Ghz WiFi
Open the app, then under Connect your device tap Set up with your phone
Choose the device you want to set up (Scale or BP monitor).
You might be asked if you have a Data Hub, which is a small white router provided by Withings. Tap No
If connecting the BP monitor via WiFi or Bluetooth
Make sure you enable bluetooth on your device. If your device bluetooth is disabled, the app will ask you to enable it.
Press the button on the device for 8-10 seconds to access the settings menu. You will see the word “Info” when you complete this task successfully.
Press the button twice to reach App.Setup
Once you see App.Setup, hold the button for 2-3 seconds. The display of the BPM should appear as the image to the left.
Return to the app, then on the Wifi screen select your 2.4ghz Wifi Network and enter your Wifi password
If connecting BP monitor via Bluetooth…
On that same wifi screen, select I don’t have a Wi-Fi network to set up via bluetooth.
Follow the final steps in the app to complete the setup process.
If connecting the scale via WiFi or Bluetooth
To access the settings menu, press and hold the button on the back of the scale for 8 seconds until you see a menu on the screen with “Info” and “App Setup.”
Press the button repeatedly until “App Setup” is highlighted. Next, hold down the button on the back of the scale until you see a progress bar appear underneath the word “Reset.” Keep holding down the button until the progress bar fills from left to right.
Once you see “Start App” on the screen of your Body Pro, you are ready to connect the scale via Wi-Fi or
Bluetooth.
Return to the app, then on the Wifi screen select your 2.4ghz Wifi Network and enter your Wifi password
If connecting scale via Bluetooth…
On that same wifi screen, select I don’t have a Wi-Fi network to set up via bluetooth.
Follow the final steps in the app to complete the setup process.
